PostHeaderIcon 10k and Tractor Run

Despite an odd shower, the 193 tractors roared through Kirkbymoorside at11.45 Sunday morning,
marking the start of the annual 10K day. By 1pm the main street was full of appropriately dressed
people, all come along to cheer someone.  The Brass Band had led the tractors down the street,
and they took up their position in front of Illingworth-Wood to play the main events: the kids dash,
the kids mile and the 10k.
It is something to behold as the kids line up in the centre of town, proudly wearing their numbers,
many accompanied by parents (especially the 3 year olds). We all count down from ten and then
they are off, dashing, running and toddling up the hill to the mini roundabout and back.  I am sure
they get more cheers than the adults who run 10k.
If you are in the area next year, come along and join us.  The Kings Head runs a great bar-be-que,
the Ice Cream van usualy does a roaring trade and the Fire Brigade give out balloons!  All in all a
great day - but then I am biased, I live here!

A very well edited video of the local boy's doing amazing jumps and breathtaking leaps in some familiar locations..
Wouldn't it be great if Manor Vale was set up for practising these skills?

PostHeaderIcon Vision Statement

Kirkbymoorside thrives because its inhabitants enjoy the life it lets them lead, here and now in the 21st Century, and our commitment is not to looking back and pining for some imaginary golden age, not to stopping the clocks, but to moving Kirkbymoorside forward, with courage and creativity put into its development, convinced that its humane virtues are priceless, and that they can remain intact.

Imagine Ryedale is the first community plan for Ryedale. It was developed for and by the Ryedale Strategic Partnership, which brings together a range of key partner groups and organisations. The Imagine Ryedale Vision highlights six key themes:

  • Vibrant Communities
  • Strong, Safe Communities
  • Access and Communication
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Landscape and Environment
  • Developing Opportunities

Kirkbymoorside has gone one step further than this and is now a Transition Town. This has been led by KMEG and is forming key energy strategies and sustainability methods for the town into the future.
